So I thought it would be a good idea to show you some things in my last apartment that I loved or hated.
First: My stove- I loved this stove and I am really going to miss it and the fact that it is gas and not electric. I love gas stoves. I didn't like that it didn't have any counter space next to it.

I LOATHE this dumb thing !! When I turned it on the back room would only get freezing cold while the rest of the house was boiling during the summer. I have central heating and air conditioning now. YIPPEE!!

I hate this kitchen. Only one person can fit in this thing comfortably. The counter space was awful but the sink was a good size. Oh and I forgot about the no dishwasher. What a nightmare.

Even though you can't see it, this was the door to my laundry room. I had to go through 2 locked doors to get to inside that sucker. If you forgot your keys upstairs, you have to go back up and get them before anyone came down and started their laundry. Now I have a washer and dryer in the unit. It is perfect.
If you didn't have quarters you didn't do laundry. What a pain and I still had to pay a water bill.
Cute entry. I lived in one apt on Branard St. in the Mont-rose in the early 70's. It was $85 for a one-bedroom. Oh and then they raised the rent! It was $95!.
ReplyDeleteI lived in another place where the kitchen was so small you couldn't walk in it. Just stand still......
Oh, and I lived in San Fran for 21 years with no washer/dryer. In the winter you would shlep down the street. And people were mean in the laundromat. If you left your clothes in the washer, they would take them out and pile them up on top all wrinkled. Mean!
ReplyDeleteI have good Executive House stories.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings elevators would frequently break down and everyone would have to walk the stairs to come and go. And I lived on SEVEN.
Sometimes in the evening i would get on the elevator with a girl and then slowly realize that it was really a guy dressed in drag - going out for the evening.
A Pilot lived in the apartment next to mine and she had this huge 10 foot wooden propeller on her balcony. Just propped up there as a conversation piece.
Hope you like your new apartment and meet some nice new neighbors!
