Oh wow doesn't that look good?! This weekend I actually had something to do. My weekend was filled everyday. I was wondering when that was going to happen. So on Saturday night I went over to my aunt and uncle's house and cooked dinner for them. I did an earlier post with BBQ ribs. My aunt saw it and said "Hey what about us Lucas people? No love?" So I was trying to figure out what I wanted to make with the ribs so I found a really good recipe for baked beans. Now lets begin this program.......
Before I started I had to make a bbq sauce to go with the beans. I mixed original bbq sauce, dijon, brown sugar together...
Oh I forgot the apple cider vinegar. You can't really see the liquid in the bag like the other ingredients so I took a picture of the bottle. I love the color of the liquid but that dang smell is horrible. It knocked me out cold when I stuck my nose to smell if it was still good. Um why didn't anyone ever tell me never to do that? It should be in some cooking rule book to never do that. Right when I was about to pour it out I looked on the back and the expiration date was printed back there. Jeeze if it wasn't for the 2010 I would of thought it was sour, what a big dummy. Moving on...
Get some thick smoky bacon.
Cut it in half.
Fry 8 pieces...(wait let me count) yup it's 8 pieces in a pan to be cooked just a little.
Take half a green pepper and a thick slice of onion and dice it up fine.
See all that good grease from the smoky bacon well you gonna put the onion and pepper in there to saute until it is translucent (onion).
Get a big can of any kind of baked beans and put it in with the onion and pepper.
Put in the sauce that you made earlier.
Sizzle for about 10 minutes.
Get a casserole dish out.
Yumm-O! That looks good. No cooking in our kitchen this weekend. Just tile and grout and base boards...oh yeah, and PaPa John's.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm here to tell ya that the ribs are better the second day... if that is at all possible. Thanks for such a great meal and the wonderful company... Love you! (I can say that because this ain't FACEBOOK!)
